NAPA, Ca. - The long-range forecast did not look promising for round two or three in Napa at Silverado Resort. Thankfully, after an early morning shower, overcast skies gave way to some sunshine later in the afternoon on Tuesday for the second round of competition on the South Course.
In the Senior Division, Mike Combs of Roswell, Ga. played a second consecutive round under par, following up his 1-under 71 on the North Course with a 2-under round of 70 today to lead by two strokes at 3-under, 141 total. Mark Sanchez of Kentfield, Calif. is two shots behind the leader at 1-under, 143. Jack Hall, of Savannah, Ga., sits at even par 144 after his round of 1-under today. Steve Maddalena, Jackson, Mich., shot the low round of the day with a 4-under round of 68, putting him at 1-over, 145.
In the Super Senior Division, Jim McNelis of Gig Harbor, Wash. continues to lead over Carl Horsch of Eden Prairie, Minn. McNelis sits at 4-over par, 148 total and leads by four strokes heading into the third and final round on the North Course on Wednesday.
Rick Doebler of Fullerton, Calif. shot the low round of the day in the Legend Division with an even-par 72. He is currently 4-over for the tournament and now leads by two strokes over Happy Rakestraw of Naples, Fla. and Sean Forey of Morrison, Colo.
Arroyo Grande California's Ron Johnson fired the lone red number in the Grand Master Division on Tuesday, a 1-under par round of 71. He now leads by three strokes over Mike Nixon of Franklin, Tenn.
