The 2017 John Kline Super Seniors made an unprecedented return to the beautiful Planterra Ridge Golf Club in Peachtree City, GA. 80 Super Seniors competed in the 54-hole competition.

Planterra Ridge’s famous 18th hole requires an accurate layup tee shot followed by a pinpoint second over water to a lake hugging green. The 18th was the setting for a playoff between John Armstrong, Frostburg, MD and long hitting Evan Long, Charlotte, NC. The players were tied after 54 holes at one-over par 217.

Both Armstrong and Long made pars on the first attempt at sudden death before returning to the 18th again. The nerves began to show just a bit, as Armstrong’s bogey 5 was good for the win. Long found the greenside water with his second resulting in a double bogey.

Tied for third in the Super senior division at 218 were Bill Leonard, Marietta, GA (71-74-73) and Wyatt Meyer, Lutz, FL (75-74-69).

In the Grand Masters division, Harry Cain, Boynton Beach FL carded an excellent 3-under par 69 in the final round to add to his opening 73-74. Harry’s three round total of 216 was good for a two shot victory over Dick Van Leuvan, Atlanta, GA alone at 218.
