It is with sincere gratitude that we thank Jim Popa, the longtime Executive Director of the Society of Seniors (SOS), as we announce his departure. Since 1999, Jim has given himself to the SOS and has played an important role in making the SOS the premier men’s senior golf organization in the country. We wish Jim a fond farewell and thanks for a job well done.
The SOS would also like to recognize and thank Matt Lefferts and Paul Pope for their years of dedicated service. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
We’d like to introduce our new Executive Director, Cory Reighard. Cory hails from Downingtown, Pennsylvania. As Mark Peterson, Executive Director of the Golf Association of Philadelphia and former boss says, “Cory has worked in nearly every aspect of golf administration, including many years conducting state championships across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. His dedication to detail, communication and enhancing the player experience illustrates why he is one of the best in the business.” Cory’s experiences include Director of Competitions, Director of Course Rating and Handicap Services. In addition to being a USGA P. J. Boatwright, Jr. Intern, Cory is a 2005 graduate of Pennsylvania State University.
The SOS Board and Cory are already looking to the future to expand the number of events for all divisions, and in particular Legends and Grand Masters. More news to follow in our upcoming quarterly newsletter.
