The Society of Seniors announces the 2021 Players Of The Year. SOS Members earn POY Points throughout the year. In 2021 eight events were played. Starting in February with the 2021 Spring Classic played in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County National Golf Club and ending in early December with the 2021 Ralph Bogart, played at Crown Colony G&CC in Ft. Myers.
SENIOR PLAYER OF THE YEARRusty Strawn, McDonough, GA, played in six SOS events in 2021, winning three. Strawn started the year with a win at the Spring Classic at Orange County National, followed that with a win at the Dale Morey Senior Championship at Innisbrook in October, then capped the year with a win at the Ralph Bogart in December at Crown Colony G&CC in Ft. Myers. Strawn’s successful 2021 included two Golfweek senior event wins and a win at the Reynolds Senior. Five other top five finishes sprinkled throughout 2021 was enough for a second place finish in Amateurgolf.com’s year end Senior Rankings. SUPER SENIOR PLAYER OF THE YEARRobin Rubrecht, Newburg, IN, also played in six 2021 SOS events amassing 640 SOS POY Super Senior points. Robin’s April win at the Senior Masters at Indian Wells Golf Resort, was only the beginning of his year of good golf. A win at the Senior Masters in April at Indian Wells Golf Resort was followed by strong finishes at the Hesler (3) in July at Glade Springs Resort and the Founders (3) at Sandpiper GC. Jim’s 400 SOS POY Legend points was a slim 10 points ahead of Peter Van Ingen, Palm Beach, FL at 390 points.
